The process

Sourcing, knotting, and knitting

Materials

Unbleached cotton cord

We start with natural, unbleached cotton cord chosen for its soft matte surface and even twist. Each length is inspected before knotting so the finished piece holds its shape.

Method

Knotting by hand

Macrame is worked knot by knot, with each row set before the next begins. The visible rhythm of square and half-hitch knots is part of the design, so we leave it open to the eye.

Knitting

Soft spun wool

Our knitted pieces use soft spun wool worked in simple stitches that let the yarn's natural character show. Slow knitting keeps the fabric even and gently textured.

A maker's note

A simple knot or a loop of yarn can make a room feel softer. We make each piece slowly so its texture and rhythm stay visible in the finished work.— The Cozy Knot studio
